Can't comment on the Proteus, don't have one and am not fond of the looks, but they use the Spectra lenses which are great for visibility, I can see the prob for neck protection. Spectra prices have dropped drastically since the Proteus came out, you should be able to find it for almost half the price. Absolutely go with a thermal lens, if you can't see you can't play.

: I completely agree with Lord. I have had a Proteus for a couple of months now, and I love it. It is a great investment. The only down side that I have found is that it doesn't provide any protection for your neck. A neck gaurd is a must.

: Anyway, regardless on which mask you decide, I highly recommend getting a mask with a thermal lense. It's not much fun to play if you cant see through the fog.
