I thought the paint was released when the gernade hit something hard enough to push the ball bearing out of the tubing? It seems that having a band around it wouldn't make a difference, but I think I may not understand what you are thinking. Can you elaborate, you always have some creative ideas, like the pictures you posted on paintballunivers, those are great, and have to talked with punisher anymore about your plan for a compact gun, I would love to hear more about that.
