Isn't theory just great? I agree with most of what you said; however, there are just a couple of small flaws in your beliefs. A pitcher in baseball does not throw the ball on an even plain, he throws it in a direction with spin which dictates which way the ball "curves". How do you explain a knuckle ball?? A barrel with rifling shoots the ball straight out with a spin of 90 degrees, therefore not making it curve in one direction or another, and in the process, spins the paint to the outside of the sphere. A ball that has the paint "slammed" to the back of it does not fly as accurately as one that has the paint "spun" to the outside. But you are most certainly correct in stating that the majority of accuracy occurs with a good paint to barrel match!
