I was once at the same point you where. What did was buy a Freak Starter kit. Gives you the back, a front, no case, and a single insert. Cuts your cost down to about $100.

For bore size, what I would probably do is next time you are at your field, go find somebody who is using the field paint with a Freak, Pipe, or other bore matched barrels and ask them what size the shoot. Then if you get a Freak Starter, but the same insert everybody else is using.

And just as an FYI except for one day the only insert I've used this year is the .687. I shoot primarily PMI Bigball, but have also used Worr paint, PMI Premium, and PMI Marbilizers through it perfectly. The only time I had to change was when I had a day with Ultra Evils, where I went up to .689.

Hope that helps!

: I am looking for a good barrel to go onto my Tippmann A5. The freak kit is very pricy ($200) and i'm not sure how much id actually need the different barrel sizes. Is there one size thats used the most for paintballs? alot of fields near me require field paint and im not sure of the size of their paintballs. Is there a cheaper kit that works well or different barrels that can support multiple paint sizes without loosing accuracy? i'm already using nitro, i know that makes a difference too. please post websights to find the stuff to if possible.
