Thanks Dale as always you have provided some valuable advice thanks,Al.(BTW it was too long a grip screw)You are a credit to Warpig.

: I assume you put in a heavier main spring?

: Is the problem SHOOT DOWN with a preset or you just can get ONE shot at the chrono to go past 250 fps?

: If shoot down, it could still be the interaction between the tank and marker. Some spyders don't like some tanks because the nipple in the ASA doesn't depress the valve stem in the tank enough to avoid shootdown. The quick test is to cut a 3/8" round plastic disk out of a 2 liter soda or milk bottle. Put it inbetween the the ASA nipple and tank when you screw it in. It will depress the valve stem about .006" farther. If that solves the problem great.

: Good luck getting Kingman or the Tank manufacturer to own up to Not being compatable.

: Another spyder quirk is SOMETIMES the rear grip bolt is too long. Especially IF you've replaced it. It will bind the hammer spring so when you turn the velocity screw, the spring compresses/decompresses only between the velocity screw and the rear grip screw. The net effect is the velocity screw in non functional.

: If backing out the velocity screw ALSO has no effect at reducing velocity, that is a good clue that this is the problem.

: The test is to loosen the rear grip screw and see if the velocity screw has an effect on velocity. If yes, that was the problem.

: The cure is to cough up $7 for a replacement screw from Kingman, put a washer(s) under the head of the screw, file/grind off the extra length of your replacement screw.

: I would check your valve porting alignment. De gas and Remove the grip. In the body there should be a set screw with a slotted head. Remove it. If there isn't one and the hole in the valve body that it is supposed to go into is misaligned or missing, then THAT is likely the problem.

: Then you are staring at replacing the valve.

: Might as well buy a LP valve. About the same price. Add one spring set and you can go LP anytime you are ready to cough up the $money for a reg. And you e mail me, I will tell you how to get a used reg for a spyder for $20-30.

: Got one on all three spyders. 2 LP and one HP.
