First, the new BE hoppers. This whole thing started as a reply to a thread about them on PhOG then expanded. The BE folks basically gave each of us on Pumpplayers.com one to use. Kinda a neat little gadget. Pro's Cons They had display models out at the show and a demonstrator out from time to time at the chrony station, but weren't selling because of some bit of design work they didn't feel was quite right. I have to give them credit for not selling when they don't feel it's perfected yet. On the other hand, without an autotrigger and a little work on the trigger pull, I'd say it's about on par with the Sniper and a step below the Sterling. With a little more work, it could easily beat the Sterling both for actual performance and availability of aftermarkets and parts.
-It's a clear 50 rd hopper with a big lid for easy loading.
-Feeds fairly well.
-Will fit standard elbows.
-As much as everybody's been crying for a big lid, I find it annoying. 50 rds is to small to reload in play very easy without overloading, making feeding stop. And the lid's a lot bigger than necessary to load with 10 rd tubes, so you take a chance of spilling.
-The plastic is also soft enough that it will bend a bit when you try to snap the lid back on. Unless you practice doing it, expect to need a few tries to get it right.
-What's up with the fin?
Next toy- Disposable 4 oz cartridges. PMI is going to start selling these with packs of a cylinder and adapter to pierce them and 2-packs of cylinders. Instead of having the cartridge pushed into the piercer like a 12 g, there's a screw on the narrow end that you screw into the adapter. Neat little toys. Just like a regular 4oz, you can play a while on one with a pump. I also can see this as being a nice backup for semi players so they can squeeze in one more game of rec or a few more minutes of scenario/big game play.
My personal favorite. PMI is making black T-shirts with their logo on the front and OLD SCHOOL on the back to celebrate their 20 years in paintball. Don't know what they're charging 'cuz they gave me one when I showed them my PMI II with battlegrips. You know you want one.
Action Markers pump. I got to shoot both an out of box model and a tweaked one being used by one of their design advisors. It's nice. Worth the price? Depends on your personal tastes. I found the aiming to be very intuitive. Pointed it at a target and hit it. Very light pump stroke, although I didn't like the pump handle's sharp angles since I shoot with half-gloves. Trigger isn't bad and I think they're still working on it. Bob's trigger was very nice indeed. No autotrigger yet, although they're working on it. Like a Sniper, you can still put out some good BPS even without the autotrigger. The stock feed adapter was pretty cool. Can be set either facing forward or reverse depending on which direction you prefer to rock'n'cock. It comes stock with a plug for the end of the tube, but it appears that a Phantom-style quick feeder would fit.
