Dremel tool, emery impregnated polishing wheel (spidery nylon cloth lookin' thing, not one of the stones or buffing wheels). Lots of patience.

On the other hand, I've never heard of a PGP's paint fouling the internals in any way. And going for the clean brass look comes at the price of needing frequent cleaning/polishing if you don't want it to look liketricycle.
