Yes, a heavily-ported barrel helps in the noise reduction department. I had an old SP AA 14" brrl on my Phantom. With good paint to brrl match it was damn quiet but innefficient. Course, I usually use a 68ci HPA on mine so that wasn't an issue.
Are you running backbottle or bottomline? Backbottle rigs resonate the "ping" of the hammer hitting the valve.
Other than that, there's not much to do.
