: This is going to seem really weird to a lot of you in here, I suspect... Not at all. In-fact I had this idea a while ago. My post may still be here, somewhere. It's my take on the "civil war" paintball thing... Having an interest in napoleonic battles, I proposed that, if the rate of fire of all players on the field was severely limited ( by means of hand-loading each ball or using a ramrod) that rudimentary linear tactics could be implemented. Hopefully the low rof would encourage the large numbers of players the game would necessitate to utilize formations, such as columns-for travel and lines- for shooting. The idea would not be to exactly emulate any kind of pre-modern tactics... merely offer an alternative to the big-game format, encouraging teamwork, and the large scale coordination which formations facilitate. Mainly I'm concerned with the dynamics of the game, not necessarily the “authenticity” of the equipment. I think your idea would be great, but, again, I’m concerned only with the tactical applications of the concept-( as a reenactor you might disagree.) I would like to hear more of your thoughts on this concept. |
