I've owned both at one time, and I personally preferred the Hornet over the Mav. The Mav's body has two slots in the side for the pumparm screws to screw into the bolt. These openings allow paint, dirt, and crud into the body. Won't shut it down like a semi, but still not something you want. I also found the Hornet's undercocking design had less slop when pumping... the Mav's pump could rotate a bit and drove me nuts.

The Hornets pump guide is really just wire, tho, and eventually bends after long use. Cheap to replace, however.

If you get a Hornet or Mav, spend the extra bucks and get the "Deluxe" model of either. These come with a velocity adjustable bolt that can be adjusted by a hex rod down the barrel.

: I'm looking into getting a new pump gun. I've seen recomendations for the ACI Maverick, and it looks like a good gun. The Hornet has the internal pump arms, would this be a reason to get the hornet instead? Is there anything that makes the maverick better than the hornet? Also, is it possible to get an external velocity adjuster on either?

: Thanks for any response.
