I went to my buddies house for some paintball. Well, we were low on paint cuz the store was closed, he decided to pull out his old pump guns from the closet. There were 5 of us there in a free-for-all. I had a blast. It was a much more personal game to me, mano 'en mano, or at least more nerve wracking and porlounged. See, we were newbs to pump mentality, used to firing 3 shot bursts into a bush to try and take someone out through 'net' cover. Now we were popping out, taking a shot, pulling back and pumping. Then we'd whip out and send some unusually slow, auto-trigger 3 shots into a bush. Basically, instead of squad move up and fire short bursts into the enemies and have a group take-down, our first games pretty much a few little battles between guys, and one situation with three people exchanging fire. So, instead of the usual find a base, and unload at all comers, go back to the spawn point when hit then pull back in, we were just stuck in battles. Heck, the first game was terrible from a tactics standpoint, us, so used to shooting at movement, and firing off a few to hit something, found ourselves shooting at long range, then realising we wouldnt have another shot until the guy hit cover. By the end of the day, we knew two things: How to play fairly descent with a pump, I diddn't know what I was using, except it was metallic nelson design, running a 12gram. It was something like a Hammer, but the white label paint was almost completely scratched off, and half the black paint was missing. He said he had bought three markers used from a field a long time ago when they were switching to semi rentals, and picked all three up for $80. So, I am looking for a pump gun, and I think I'm looking for something Nelson based, that could have a bit of aestetic modifications (If I play pump, it should look sweet, maybie like a Pump shotgun type thing or a sorta sleek looking high-tech thing that doesn't look pump) Im thinking adding something like a wooden stock, or a synthetic stock and matching furniture. |
