'03 LCD problem with LCD screen

 My fresh out of the box '03 LCD is having a problem with the screen. When I turn it on the screen activates as normal, but after a few seconds the screen starts to flicker in some sections. I've cycled it on and off, and tried different menus with the same results. Could this be an error related to charging?
