Is it possible to fit it without having to get a verticle adapter which would make the gun taller than I want? Thanks so much for any help. Very dissappointed when I took it out the first time just to find out I could use it.

They are made bigger because there have been variations in the size of feed necks - some of the older feed necks were bigger than they are now. As the other guy said, just sand it down.
