: Sorry folks I goofed and spun a reverse on the reasoning for a higher pressure (fixed) source vs a lower pressure (variable/fixed)source on an Angel Speed. The ones that had a problem are tanks that put out well over the allowed 850 !MAX! psi for the Speed's innards.

: Everything else holds true, 400-850 !MAX! psi from the manual.

: TS Authorman (Sparkman) who I referenced in the original post had sent me something that I read inside out late one night and misunderstood. I reviewed it and had to come back and set it straight.

Yes, there are cases where a few fixed tanks will put out over 850psi when the tank pressure gets low (1000-1500psi range). This is a factor of how the regulator works. As a general rule, as the tank pressure drops, the output pressure rises. This occurs because the lower the tank pressure, the slower the reg reacts allowing more air past the reg seat, giving higher output pressure. Some regs are better than others, so it depends on the brand and what pressure the tank is fixed to.
