That is the shroud. Nowhere near as nice as the shark cut metal upper on the '99s. Yes it is removable. Many people do not use it at all. In reality it offers little protection for the pneumatics (or atleast the 99 and earlier). A direct hit would puncture the lower neoprene. It just means a little more time with a q-tip at the end of the day.

: I have a question that i never new how to ask so I got the wrong answers. Here it goes again! Ok, Worr Games 2002 Verticle has a grip thing under the barrel. It is cover the 3way pmp ram and it just looks ugly as heck. I need to know if you can remove it. If you look at a picture of it you will know what im talking about.
