First, the type of paint, size and consistancy has something to do with it, so check your paint fit. The sidewinder reg is a great reg, however does require break in time like all good products. So you could still be in break. The best way I have found to sweet spot the reg is just to center out velocity adjuster and start turning up the reg. Turn it up a full turn and check the velocity, when you find a point that you keep turning it up and it won't go faster, back it up a turn and leave it. Adjust your velocity with the external adjuster. If you keep turning it up and the velocity starts to go back down, you have gone to high for pressure and need to back it out. This should help too, if not with consistancy, then it will help a little with efficiency so it is a no lose situation. I highly doubt that the threads on your asa connection would cause it, but this is possible and your air smith did recommend replacing it, so I would do so and see. Hope any of these help you.
