look inside the barrel from both directions, if you can see a gap where the barrel and the adaptor meet, then it's a problem. There shouldn't be a gap.
The problem with this might arise if the lip of the gap starts catching and ripping balls as they shoot out. If the ID of the barrel is tighter than the id of the adaptor, you'll definitely have gack problems.
