The stock ram will keep up with a 15 rps E grip.
So why change that?

The regulator is just fine. The only drawback it that it is internally adjustable which can be a pain until you get it set the way you want. Once you get it set then you have the advantage that is doesn't get bumped and changed. You get reliablility.

Externally adjustable regs have a knob on the end. Handy for setting the reg to the minimal pressure required to reliably cock the marker. The reason you want it minimal is only if you short stroke or jam a ball with the bolt. If the pressure is too high the force the the ram is too high and the ram will break the ball when it closes the bolt. Hopefully, if it is set right you have a reasonable chance of getting a jam instead of a chop. Just pull the bolt back manually, let it drop into the chamber, cross your fingers and fire. Hopefully it will exit the barrel in one piece.

Now a shortened 3 way WILL significantly decrease the probability and thus frequency of short stroking and getting a jam or chop. Now that is worth having without a doubt.

Especially, if you are new to cockers and haven't gotten your "stroke" down yet. (basically using the same rate of fire and completely and fully pulling the trigger all the way in and releasing it all the way forward every time you pull the trigger no matter HOW excited you get in a firefight...)

Ask around but I think there is a kit that someone makes that replaces the most forward piece of the stock reg and converts it to an adjustable reg. Not sure thought considering the screw adjustment for the pressure is NOT located in that end of the front reg... Maybe they reverse the middle section 180 degrees. Same thread on both ends. So Maybe...
