a lot depends on your current situation and the level of you wish to attain. If you're thinking of making it a livelihood, it's one thing, if you just wanna tinker to your hearts content, it's another. If you want to work at a PB shop or a custom house, that's something too.
Certain gun makers have held seminars for those interested in becoming say a CockerSmith. (WGP may still have those classes scheduled, check with them at www.worr.com, AGD might also still have their classes available.)
A lot of what you can do for your training will have to do with where you're located and how much time and money you can afford to spend on your training.
So if you can give us an idea of what level airsmithing you think you want or can get to (relatively soon, as in within a few months...?) as well as where you're located in the world, (this matters because there are well known and professional PB businesses all over the country and there may be one near you!) it'll be easier to give you hard info on what to do to gain the ground floor level training.
Obviously there are certain predispositions that you need on the personal level. Immense curiousity, some mechanical ability, common sense, a bit of meticulousness, and an inquiring mindset are traits which you will need to have or develop if you want to be a real airsmith. Having tools or knowing how to use tools certainly helps, and being of the mind that can bring it's entire arsenal of experience and knowledge (even outside of PB) to the issues at hand, is very helpful.
