That's a range of 50 fps, and you don't think that's significant? Sorry, I dissagree very strongly. To be safe over the chrono you'd have to shoot for 260 fps to be sure (assuming 285 fps field limit). I don't know what it would work out to on the target range, but a shot at 235 fps followed by a shot at 285 fps would hit in substantially different spots. Your accuracy would be horrible trying to compensate for the huge swings in range. Consistant paint to barrel fit together with a consistant burst of air to propel the ball will drop the ball in the same spot every time and be extremely accurate, just what cockers are known for.

What type of barrel and paint are you shooting Diginerd, this could be part of the problem, if it's brand new, maybe something in the reg making it stick and be inconsistent. A good cleaning may be all it needs. Hope it helps.

: +/- 25 fps on a new marker is not really all that much flux - heres a few things to think about

: quality of paint - makes a huge difference in chrono flux - vast majority of jumps up and down I see over a chrono are due to variances of ball size and shape.

: Breaking in the springs - brand new marker sometimes your main spring (what controls the influx of air into the system) has a little variance - some folks used to "cook" the springs to harden them and reduce flux

: shouldnt need to adjust the reg for single shot flux - the reg usually is for overall operating pressure that affects firing in steady streams (maintaining pressure behind your rate of fire). its a possible cause - just much less likely.

: hope that helps, have fun with your Orracle =)
