Sounds like the previous owner lost the ball bearring in it, spring, or both. Either way, you will need to get replacements for it, or remove it. I personally removed all the safeteys from my guns. Useless items to me. I either Shut off the gun, or emptry the chamber and decock the gun(cocker). Plus I use my barrel plug.
