Cocking Rod

 First, check and see if your cocking rod is loose. If so, tighten it. If not, you need to 'shorten' your cocking rod by screwing the knob in a few turns (there should be a set screw either in the side of the knob or in the end behind the rod). Shortening the timing rod makes it engage the bolt earlier in the ram stroke and will pull it back a bit further.
