I think you missed the point. Whether or not the tournament was properly run, is irrelevent. The point, is that conflicts of interest, and even the appearances of conflicts of interest, should be avoided. You can have the best tournament in the state, the best and most scrupulously honest judges and referees in the entire southeast region, but if there is a conflict of interest, or even the appearance of one, then you are opening yourself up for criticism. Why do it, when you know ahead of time, that it's going to cause you grief? Do it once, and learn from the mistake. Ignore the mistake and do it again, and you come out looking dumber than a box of rocks. Not to mention that you will get double or triple the amount of grief you caught the first time. In the venacular, "It just ain't worth the hassle!" It takes a long time to build trust and respect, and that's true no matter where you go, or what you do. And all it takes, is one moment of carelessness, thoughtlessness, or stupidity, to destroy in an instant, what you have worked so hard and so long to achieve. In paintball, appearances are everything. If you don't remember anything else, remember that. "In paintball, appearances are everything!" "Hollywood" |
