Good topic!

I'll pipe in with my $0.02.

I've not gone the fire extinguisher route. Rather, I'm going the medical O2 bottle route. It's a 4.25" OD (3.9" ID) aluminum bottle rated to 2000 psi. I cut 6" of the end of it off and will soon be welding a 3/8" piece of plate aluminum over said 6". The plate will have 4 1/4" NPT fittings welded radially about a central 1" NPT pipe nipple that will be welded through the plate.

Due to the pipe fittings and the use of flat plate, the rating of the vessel will drop to about 200 psi, but this should be plenty.

Total cost, about $10 (for the fittings, everything else was lying around the house).

Note: I'm not totally stupid. The welding will be done by a guy who both owes me a favor and is an ASME pressure vessel certified welder.
