My JT Excellerator 6.0 won't accept the tank?

 I got an Excellerator 6.0 for my son for Christmas and thus far, we have been unsuccessful in getting a tank to thread properly and seem to be unable to get one installed.

Anyone have any experience with these guns or any great ideas?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
