the gauge blew on my maxflow

I just got my maxflow gassed up and i put a remote on and screwed it on my gun. When i turned it on it blew out my gauge and also blew a hole in my remote. My maxflow is a old high pressure one. Why would it blow the gauge and remote? Any help is good.
