You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT about simple physics. Cockers don't shoot a flatter trajectory or shoot farther or anything like that. Sometimes when you're shooting an Autococker, however, it LOOKS like it is shooting straighter. This is because of perspective and the lower profile of the marker. It's an optical illusion :) The same concept that makes David Copperfield rich makes Autocockers so popular...

Anyways, about the topic at hand.... You could get a BKO and you would have:

A simple electropneumatic design
Low maintenence and easy to work on
Light weight (lighter than my Spyder)
Very few moving parts
No sear or other high-wear parts
Quiet
Fast, fastly fast
A fair amount of upgrades available, anything you'd want pretty much
People may or may not recognize it :)

Or you could get an Autococker and have:

A complicated design - It's a pump gun with a cocking system slapped on after the fact!
Lots of things to adjust, difficult to work on if you aren't experienced
Kind of heavy
Lots of moving parts, probably the most moving parts in any paintball gun out there
Fully mechanical design
Also very very quiet
Can be made fast, but is not fast stock
You can make it electro by buying an electronic frame that by itself costs as much as a BKO... :\
There are a million upgrades available, most of which aren't needed.

The Autococker is a nice marker, don't get me wrong, I just think it's overrated. Especially when you consider the price!
