Is the line that goes from the CVX valve to the adjustment screw getting cold? Sounds like you have a bad connection somewhere because that piston behind the trigger should go with EVERY shot as you know. I would check all your lines and make sure there are no leaks. Sorry to state the obvious, but hopefully that helps
