Freak Barrell Assembly

Just purchased a used Freak Set. Wondering if there is a specific order to asseble the parts.
I've put the insert into the back of the front piece, where it fits in about 3/8 of an inch, then, using the front, pushed the insert into the back and threaded it when the threads met.
right or wrong way?
