: I guess that's because you're doing the pumping instead of the gun's internals, huh?

I think it has more to do with the efficiency of the valving. A gun will always be quieter if you get just the right pressure/volume combination so that there's nearly no pressure left behind the ball when it leaves the muzzle, but still got accellerated to the right speed. That's why low pressure guns are so quiet. Mike's just managed to get the same result with high pressure. Don't have the science to back that up, just my theory.
: It's amazing how many people underestimate someone with a slower rate of fire.
: Besides, when you figure that the Phantom is extremely lightweight, and that I don't really need to carry around extra paint or wear a harness, I'm easily one of the most mobile players on the field.

That's my angle. I try to make it to the 40 on the tape at least every game. Use the fact that I'm not encumbered to make it low & quick, then use the gun's small profile to play tighter than any marker with a hopper can hope to.

: I've heard several people complain that the after-market panels they bought didn't work with their markers, and I figured the Phantom would be harder to shop for than most.

Any 45 grips will work, but with the Dye's, you have to carve off the little spurs they put on the back. This is easier with the clear panels too, since the plastic's hard. A lot of grips may need a little carving at the bottom to put a bottomline on, but that's true with many markers.

: (By the way, if you don't mind my asking, whereabouts do you play?)

I live in Clarkston, Wa. on the Wa/Id border. The local shop is just opening an airball field, so it's a fun time to be a player, even if it's all speedball. I also do a bit of traveling. Usually go to the Splat Action big games in Molalla, Or. I also do some writing for Mackz Xtreme Sportz, so I'll be at their game in Fernley, and pop up at a few other events when schedule and travel budget permits. I also went to Skyball with the PPIG team (August APG pg. 88, I'm on the far right), and am going to IAO with them. I'm also thinking about doing Pan-am Stock Class just for kicks.
