OK, lets start with the simple stuff. The flatline with its backspin offers greater distance than ANY other marker running at the same velocity and barrel elevation. Having said that, they are incredibly inaccurate and range is not the key to paintball. I've owned a phantom and can say they are an awesome pump marker. I will say they are no more accurate or have any more distance to them than any other marker shot at the same velocity and elevation. What I will say is that playing with a pump, by necessity makes you more accurate. I shoot an autococker now and can say that it shoots pretty much the same as my spyder does in terms of range etc. I also shoot the same marker as a sniper II (pump) and it shoots the same distance. Your not new to the sport so you should have the skills you need to make it through a game. You say you play the sniper role, which is cool with me. That means you are used to sneaking around and picking your fights/targets. It does not mean that you wear cammo and use a scope:) So switching over to pump should not be a great step. At first you will get eliminated, and often. You will not have the snap shooting skills nor will you have the firepower you are used too. In time you will become a MUCH better player if you stick at the pump. You'll carry less paint onto the field and get more eliminations. I know personally, when my game falls to pieces. I hang up the auto cocker and play pump until I remember how to aim. I respect a good pump player a lot more than an average player with any semi. I've said it before, practice and learn to aim. Don't think about distance as the chance of breaks reduces. Simply put if you can do the job with 1-2 to balls, while others use 5-7, you are doing it faster. Faster is often that which wins a game of paintball Cheers Jason
