phantom pump arm/nut

sounds like your pump arm is in need of adjustment - there is a small hex nut that helps position your pump on the pump rod. That nut is probably what is beating the hell out of the receiver. your pump rod should engage so that the nut ends up being NEAR the receiver but not eating into it. some small amount of receiver eating is normal wear and tear but large amounts indicate you need to adjust it. when you tighten/adjust it you will probably see the slop go away also.
