the currently produced buzzards have similar internals, the old nelson #5 powertubes have been replaced by shorter power tubes often having some work done on the base of the tube to enhance airflow. The velocity adjuster mates to the tube in a similar fashion and has ports cut into it to control airflow around the ball. It really depends on how old a carter you are looking at. The older markers with full length #5 tubes used a lot of air, but to be brutally honest - I never had a problem with air causing my paint to blow in the barrel.... at least not that I was aware of. Ive had Carter Machine markers since the early 90's (even before he went to machined stainless bodies)... and without fail, every single one of them performed like a dream. Ive owned a phantom for just a bit longer (my first phantom came to me back in the day when they were near $400 and had fixed 1 piece barrel/body) and have had no complaints about them either. I do believe that Phantom's will get you more shots/12gram. But as far as problems...I can honestly say that on my Carter Ive not had any design based problems - just the usual wear and tear that markers get over time. Jasleth |
