WDP warranty...(txt)

Hmmm...Maybe Bill can answer this one, but am I under the assumption that Angels have a decent warranty? If not a lifetime warranty? The reason for my question...

Scene: 2002 NPPL LA Open

Problem: After getting my LCD Angel ready for a backup marker, I noticed it wasn't sounding right and the balls were dropping out of the barrel instead of "flying". "No problem, WDP is here and they will fix it for me!" I take it to the tent and am informed it will be a $25 charge NO MATTER WHAT THE PROBLEM IS if I'm not sponsered by WDP. "Huh?" I say as the youngster takes my name and info. Bending over so they can get a better position to ream me (kidding), I fork over the cash and start to get visions of car mechanics/used car salesmens facial expressions when the know you don't know what your doing and they tack $2K on top of the bill just for you being an idiot.

I return a few hours later and I ask what the problem was. "Ummmmm...I think it was something to do with the exhaust valve." "Can I talk to the tech that's working on it and find out for sure?" "I don't know who it is..." "Then how do you know it's the exhaust valve?" Total silence...Now, don't get me wrong, I love WDP and I understand that they are getting BOMBARDED with guns that need repair and don't know my Angel form Rocky Cagnoni's Angel but I felt like I was getting the run around. I then started getting visions of paying $25 for an O ring.

I got my Angel back sometime later and it worked fine, and the tag did say something about the exhaust valve, but didn't say what was replaced or repaired and didn't state anything other than "Exhaust Valve". So, what did I pay for? A new exhaust valve? A cleaning? Some O rings? What? I asked the person who was working the marker return table what was done and he said it should say on the tag. I felt like I was in some nightmare WDP rendition of Abbott and Costello's "Who's on first". I just smiled, said thank you, and was on my way. Now, I have never taken my Angel to the WDP booth, or even had to take them to get fixed at my local shops because, frankly, I've never had a problem with mine in 3 years. I asked several teammates about it and they said the took theirs to the booths last year and they were fixed for free.

Anybody got a scoop on this that I'm missing? It may sound like I'm being sarcastic or that I'm bashing WDP, but I'm not. I'm just curious. IMHFO

Peace,
Jonesin'
