The bottom line is truly that they are getting HAMMERED at the big tourneys. Our WDP guy here in Moscow, Oleg, is one of the top WDP techs and is doing some exclusive work for Avalanche this year, and they most certainly do know your Angel from Rocky's, but they don't know yours from next guys. You're going to pay for anything that is not covered by the warranty, so if it was an o-ring, then you're going to pay for their time to open her up and replace it. If you're friend got free service, then he was probably just lucky and the guy didn't charge him. Just an example for you, at NPPL World Cup last year Oleg said that they did around 800 service jobs. 400 on the first day. They're great guys, but they're getting hammered out there. At Millenium Max Masters last month, I was walking to the field with about 10 minutes to spare before our next game and the grip frame on my IR3 came halfway off (I had a hard landing diving into a snake and stripped the front screw). I ran up to the WDP tent, and in less than three minutes I was on my way to the field, good as new. If it weren't for them, we'd have been down a man in that game. Chris : Hmmm...Maybe Bill can answer this one, but am I under the assumption that Angels have a decent warranty? If not a lifetime warranty? The reason for my question... : Scene: 2002 NPPL LA Open : Problem: After getting my LCD Angel ready for a backup marker, I noticed it wasn't sounding right and the balls were dropping out of the barrel instead of "flying". "No problem, WDP is here and they will fix it for me!" I take it to the tent and am informed it will be a $25 charge NO MATTER WHAT THE PROBLEM IS if I'm not sponsered by WDP. "Huh?" I say as the youngster takes my name and info. Bending over so they can get a better position to ream me (kidding), I fork over the cash and start to get visions of car mechanics/used car salesmens facial expressions when the know you don't know what your doing and they tack $2K on top of the bill just for you being an idiot. : I return a few hours later and I ask what the problem was. "Ummmmm...I think it was something to do with the exhaust valve." "Can I talk to the tech that's working on it and find out for sure?" "I don't know who it is..." "Then how do you know it's the exhaust valve?" Total silence...Now, don't get me wrong, I love WDP and I understand that they are getting BOMBARDED with guns that need repair and don't know my Angel form Rocky Cagnoni's Angel but I felt like I was getting the run around. I then started getting visions of paying $25 for an O ring. : I got my Angel back sometime later and it worked fine, and the tag did say something about the exhaust valve, but didn't say what was replaced or repaired and didn't state anything other than "Exhaust Valve". So, what did I pay for? A new exhaust valve? A cleaning? Some O rings? What? I asked the person who was working the marker return table what was done and he said it should say on the tag. I felt like I was in some nightmare WDP rendition of Abbott and Costello's "Who's on first". I just smiled, said thank you, and was on my way. Now, I have never taken my Angel to the WDP booth, or even had to take them to get fixed at my local shops because, frankly, I've never had a problem with mine in 3 years. I asked several teammates about it and they said the took theirs to the booths last year and they were fixed for free. : Anybody got a scoop on this that I'm missing? It may sound like I'm being sarcastic or that I'm bashing WDP, but I'm not. I'm just curious. IMHFO : Peace,
