The reason for this is that you have to have power to your cigarette lighter. Unless you have one of those power plugs, you'll have to have the car on.

: It didnt even occur to me to start the car. I guess I figured that a brand new Cadillac would have enough juice without starting the engine.

: I started the car and bingo, it started to charge. But when I turned the car off, it stopped charging. So, I drove around for 4 hours. A bit ridiculous but I probably would have just wasted it watching TV anyway. Thanks, Doc.

: : Follow this exact advice.

: : Start the car. Plug the charger into the cigarette lighter, plug the charger into the IR3. Turn the switch to "On". It should start charging and showing your a cascading charge bar in your battery slot. Once it starts doing this, turn the car off... it should continue to charge.
