When you sweetspot your reg you are trying to find the spot where you are getting the highest gas flow through your valve. Set the velocity adjuster to the mid point, then, starting with a low pressure, adjust your reg to where you get the highest velocity. (Beyond that point your velocity will actually drop as the higher pressure closes the valve faster). This is the point where you're getting the highest possible flow through your valve. If the velocity at this point is way too high, replace your hammer spring with a softer one. If the velocity is way too low use a firmer hammer spring. When you get close to your desired velocity, fine tune it with your velocity adjuster.

If you want to try to run at lower pressure, try a softer valve spring before you sweetspot. You will need to repeat the process ant time you change your valve or valve spring.
