The gun should stay in time as long as the bolt has not been replaced and the gun has not been dropped. To tell if the gun is out of time is not hard you will need some small measurement tools though. As long as the gun doesnt make any unusual sounds such as burping the gun is in time. But if you want to check all that needs to be done is ( on a vertical feed cocker ) look down the vertical feed and with the gun aired up pull the trigger and hold it back you should only be able to see 1/8 to 1/16 of an inch of the bolt. There you have it. P.S. I hope you eventually decide on an E-Blade I just got mine and i love it.
