I was brain farting and came up with something that we should push on promoters to consider (if they arent doin it allready). You have a giant field, either an open field or a fairly open patch of woods and have a tank on tank battle, no people at all on the field. This way you wouldnt have to have a chrono limit on your nerf shot, so you could really thump away at distance. If you wanted to involve another depreciated part of our sport, you could invite mortar guys to try and shell the tanks during their melee, again no chrono limit. Spectators and refs could be behind a giant net, like spectators are often behind at speedball fields, they could still use the kill switches to disable the tanks.

Or have a tank obstacle course? Hehe lots of bumps to ride over, sharp turns, targets to hit with main gun(s) and coaxial paintguns during the trip, and of course you get shot at in the final stage, all for points with maybee "most agile tank and best trained tank crew" trophy or award?
