Get a tippman. I was in the same situation a while ago and was happy with my descision.
I personally thought spyders looked better but the tippman look really grows on you. Good thing about Tippmans are that they are like the tonka truck of paintball guns. The always work. a little dirt or little minor things wont mess it up like a higher end gun. Spyders have had a tendency to have more problems but i do not know from experience. Also, the tippman is very upgradeable. I upgraded mine alot and it is a very nice gun. THe upgrades are also cheaper then spyder upgrades. Also, since the spyder is made in japan or china (somewhere near there) all the threads are meteric. All american made aftermarket parts and standard so many times you will need to buy adapters but there are exceptions. Personally, you should try to find someone at a field who has a spyder and a tippmann and try it out. THe best way to know how they preform is to try it out. Also, talk to people about what they like and dislike about it. Hope this helps

Brian
