Greg;
Sounds like the first part I would check is your paint. What your describing would be consistent with having paint that is to big for your barrel, old enough to have dimples, or have wet paint from broken seams in the bag.

Assuming that the paint comes in good condition out of the bag, it's possible that changing paint will fix the problem without messing with your current setup. I've found that Marbilizers, Evils, or even PMI Premium tend to be small paint than most of what I see sold as standard field paint.

If that doesn't work, I would check the condition of your barrel. It's possible you have a burr inside of there or the barrel could not be making contact with the chamber of your gun. After that, I would have an airsmith look at your gun and see if you might have something wrong with your valve or bolt. I have a Custom 98 myself and have never chopped a ball. I've had a problem with breaking paint once, and what was when it was raining while in mid game. I don't even count that as a malfunction. I'd just be surprised if the problem is behind the barrel.

I'm sure there's others with better tips than that, but something to consider!

: I have a basic 98 custom with expansion chamber, double trigger, and a boomstick it is way to loud and is curving painballs like a MFer with no accuracy whatsoever I have run it on compresswed air/nitrous with no difference it cronies at 265-275(the limits set at where I play is 280). I am thinking of going to a closed bolt system and a sniper barrel. I need to quiet it down and improve accuracy and make it more consistent. I am thinking the "closed bolt" system and sniper barrel will make it quieter. What do you think any reccomendations and where to buy the parts I don't even know what they call what Iwant to do to the bolt either I want to close up the cocking slot on the 98 custom as much noise comes from there.? TIA GregH
